The Lady Danes were led by Kathryn Fanning, who won the 1,000, and Kadine Johnson who finished second in the shot put and third in the weight throw. The Albany women won the team title with freshman Brianne Bellon of Greenfield Center (Saratoga High) finishing second in the 800-meter run (2:12.53) and sophomore Sherez Mohamed of Albany (Holy Names) runner-up in the 400 (57.31). It was an IC4A qualifying effort.Īlso posting IC4A efforts for the Albany men, who finished second in the meet, were Paul Lagno, who won the mile (4:09.64), and Wilfredo de Jesus Elias, who finished second in the weight throw (60 feet, 53/4 inches).
University at Albany sophomore Alex Leuchanka of Clifton Park (Shenendehowa) captured the 5,000-meter run at last Thursday's Great Dane Classic at the New York City Armory with a meet-record time of 14 minutes, 39.22 seconds. That effort earned him second-team All-America honors. Branche had 46 receptions for 659 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games as a senior. He's the leading career receiver in touchdowns (35), receiving yards and receptions at RPI. Branche (2007), from Schenectady (Colonie High), is still the record holder for career receptions (231) and yards gained (2,848) in Division III for tight ends.
